Quiet Walks

I lift up my eyes to the hills-- from where will my help come? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in from this time on and forevermore. Psalm 121

This is a scripture God gave me when I first went to the Dominican Republic. I know God was just letting me know that He was with me and I was protected. And He has given me this scripture on every mission trip I have been on to the Dominican Republic. Today I received it in another devotional. God likes to speak to me through devotionals. This devotional was about noticing God in the quietness of a walk. And the prayer on the devotional was for walkers. This is just how God speaks to me. I have know for quite sometime God has been speaking to me about exercise. And I have tried before to exercise and I start out good but in the end I end up not sticking with it. So today I felt God was telling to just start walking. So I did. I went for a very long walk today through my neighborhood. I had my mp3 player and listened to worship music and the bible. And God spoke to me while listening to the bible on my mp3 player. It is amazing when you are quiet and listening you can hear God speaking in a still small voice. That is usually how God speaks to me. In His still small voice. That is how He lead me on every mission trip.
It is the most walking I have done in a while. But I think this is a good time to start taking time for a walk every day. My New Resolution I guess you could say. And walking is free. No gym to join. And you get to notice God in your surroundings. Today was beautiful here. The sun was out. In the mid 60's. I noticed everyone taking down all there Christmas decorations. There was kids playing. And birds flying around. I was tired when I got back. But it felt good I have to say.
