My Foot Surgery

Well today I had surgery on my foot. I had a bunion taken off. So I am recovering at home. I can't really move around too much. Thank goodness I have really great husband who has not minded all of my requests today. It is hard when you can't get up and do what you want. The pain is starting to set in. The pain pills take the edge off but they make slightly nauseaed. This morning while I was reading my Magnificat the scripture for today was Jeremiah 30:17 "I will restore you to health of your wounds I will heal you says the Lord." All the readings this morning was about healing. So I knew when I read this that God was with me. It was the perfect scripture for me to read this morning before the surgery. And the reading for tonight in the Magnificat was:


Isaiah 53:4-5 "4 Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed."

Sometimes God uses doctors to heal us. One day I was reading my my Catholic bible and I was reading in the book of Sirach. I came across this scripture in Sirach 38. It talks about how doctors can heal us. God gave the doctors there knowledge to bring healing to people. I had never read this before. But I liked what it said:

Sirach 38:1-14
1 Give doctors the honor they deserve, for the Lord gave them their work to do. 2 Their skill came from the Most High, and kings reward them for it. 3 Their knowledge gives them a position of importance, and powerful people hold them in high regard.4 The Lord created medicines from the earth, and a sensible person will not hesitate to use them. 5 Didn't a tree once make bitter water fit to drink, so that the Lord's power might be known? 6 He gave medical knowledge to human beings, so that we would praise him for the miracles he performs. 7-8 The druggist mixes these medicines, and the doctor will use them to cure diseases and ease pain. There is no end to the activities of the Lord, who gives health to the people of the world.
9 My child, when you get sick, don't ignore it. Pray to the Lord, and he will make you well. 10 Confess all your sins and determine that in the future you will live a righteous life.11 Offer incense and a grain offering, as fine as you can afford.12 Then call the doctor for the Lord created him and keep him at your side; you need him. 13 There are times when you have to depend on his skill. 14 The doctor's prayer is that the Lord will make him able to ease his patients' pain and make them well again.

Now I was a bit nervous of this surgery a little. I have never even had a broken bone before. So I was not sure how much this was going to hurt. And I have heard a lot of people tell me this is a very painful surgery. I am just having a lot of throbbing pain right now. And hopefully it will subside soon.
 But I had really great doctors. Both the doctors and the anesthesiologist are both Christians. My anesthesiologist also prays with his patients before the surgeries. My husband and I are also good friends with my anesthesiologist . So I am blessed to have christian doctors. I feel God has blessed me so much. Even though the back injury, my heart procedure and now my foot surgery. God has been a light in all the dark times I have been through. God has always shown me that He is right there with me. And I don't have to be afraid. Perfect love cast out all fear. God is perfect love. So I really should not fear.

So I am trusting God to restore me to health and to heal my wounds.
